DIY / $1 Clipboard Art Frame

Hello, guys!

I’m Vanessa from Casa dos Mael! I’m here today to share a DIY Clipboard art frame!

This specific DIY was inspired by Kara from Kara Rosenberry on Etsy! She is just awesome and a great inspiration! Check out her store!

I got these clipboards from the dollar store. They are simple, but I wanted them to be fabulous! So, I spray painted the hardware with gold paint, added a few inexpensive art prints and, violá, a beautiful, quirky art frame for your home!

I had this idea because I love art very much. Especially illustrations. You can check out my Pinterest board with art I love here! Sometimes, investing in art we love takes a toll on our wallet. Professionally framing it is always expensive and I wanted an option to display my art in a beautiful way that didn’t cost too much, and that I could easily change the print from time to time! Do you guys do that? I think I change the prints in our home according to the seasons!

So here is a step by step:

1. Protect the clipboard and expose only the hardware.

Certain stores will sell clipboards that come with a protective plastic that exposes only the hardware. Those are the easiest to work with! If you are working with a clipboard you already have at home, make sure you cover the clipboard with paper/plastic and prepare to spray paint the hardware only!

2. Selecting the right spray paint.

There are many options at the hardware store (my next choice might be fluorescent pink), I chose my favorite metallic spray paint: Rust-oleoum gold.

4. Choose your favorite art print:

I constantly get prints from magazines or books that have images that speak to me. You don’t need to invest a lot to find prints that match your aesthetic or your home decor!

I hope you guys enjoy it!

Have a great week!

Recently, we were visiting family in NYC and we had the pleasure to stop by one of our best friends, artist and graphic designer Danielle Martin! Her apartment was mesmerizing! You already know how we, here at Move 2 Denver, are obsessed with interior design and great decor ideas and we asked Danielle to share a few pictures of her fantastic space in North Jersey:

The presence of her family is everywhere through photos and work of art she has created! It’s such a lovely place!

As an artist, Danielle is also an art collector, she has pieces he gathered traveling around the world, visiting flea markets, gifts from friends and family and, of course, her own pieces of art!

There is colorful and irreverent decor everywhere! We truly felt like we were visiting a very well curated gallery!

Even Ikea pieces do not look mass produced! Like that wooden closet in her bedroom, she stained and put some artwork in it! It looks amazing! Would you ever think it’s from Ikea?

Danielle, Thank you so much for sharing a little from your very special space! We truly love your home!
